Listed MBBS schools by size of enrolment plan: the 44 plans from largest to smallest

Sources checked · Unofficial summary

The Ministry of Education's notice for the 2023–2024 academic year names 44 universities for English-taught undergraduate clinical medicine and gives 3,048 places in total. The plans range from 150 places down to 20. This page sorts the 44 rows by plan size and counts the schools at each size, and the sorting is this site's own. This is an unofficial register page, and you can see the section list at this register's section page.

What paragraph 1 of the notice says

Paragraph 1 of the notice (教外厅函〔2023〕10号, signed 15 May 2023) reads, in this site's English translation of the Chinese text: "For the 2023–2024 academic year, the Ministry entrusted 44 higher education institutions to enrol international students in the English-taught undergraduate clinical medicine programme, with 3,048 places in total. The enrolling institutions and the allocation of places were determined by taking into account past years' enrolment and each institution's daily teaching and management of medical education for international students."

So the allocation of places is the provision's stated basis: past years' enrolment, and each institution's daily teaching and management of medical education for international students. The English in this article is this site's translation of the Chinese text.

The 44 plans, sorted by size

The table below lists the 44 rows of the annex by plan size. The sorting is this site's, not the Ministry's. Rows with the same plan size stay in annex order. The annex lists universities by their Chinese names, and the English names are the ones this register uses. The "Annex no." column is the serial number (序号) printed in the annex.

A plan figure is the number of places for the 2023–2024 year. This site reads each figure as a cap on places for that year. The size of a plan is not a ranking, and this page does not number the rows as ranks.
