Listed MBBS schools in Guangdong Province: the four rows of the annex

Four schools printed under Guangdong Province appear in the annex to the Ministry of Education's notice on the 2023–2024 list of higher education institutions enrolling international students in English-taught undergraduate clinical medicine. They are Southern Medical University, Jinan University, Guangzhou Medical University and Shantou University, with 2023–2024 enrolment plans of 100, 100, 60 and 20. Adding those four plans gives 280; that sum is this site's arithmetic, not a figure printed in the annex.

The table gives each row as the annex prints it, with the English name this register uses, and the place and administering body from the Ministry's national list of 17 June 2026. The administering body is printed in Chinese in the list; the English here is this site's translation.

The annex lists universities by their Chinese names, and the English names are the ones this register uses. Each of the four rows is printed under the 广东省 (Guangdong) province header of the national list. Three of the four rows give Guangzhou as the place in the national list; that count is this site's.

Where the rows come from

The annex is the annex to notice 教外厅函〔2023〕10号 of the General Office of the Ministry of Education. Its signature block is dated 15 May 2023, and the Ministry's site shows 30 May 2023 as the publication date. The notice covers the 2023–2024 academic year only.

Paragraph 1 of the notice says that 44 universities were entrusted with enrolling international students in the programme for 2023–2024, with 3,048 places in total. It also says that the places were allocated taking into account previous years' enrolment and each school's day-to-day teaching and management of medical education for international students. The four Guangdong rows are part of those 44 rows.

The annex has three columns: the number, the institution and the enrolment plan for 2023–2024. It has no column for fees.

The Ministry's policy index of study-abroad and study-in-China documents lists the annual list notices. The date beside each title in the index is the date it was put on the Ministry's site. The newest entry for this list is dated 2023-05-30, and the index showed no later edition for the clinical medicine list when this site read it on 11 October 2026. Readers should confirm the current year's status with the university and with the Ministry of Education.

What the annex does not show

The order of the annex and the size of each plan are not a ranking. Because this site does not rank the schools, a higher plan number here should not be read as a quality score, and neither should a Double First-Class entry.

Double First-Class entries

The second-round Double First-Class list was published by the Ministry of Education, the Ministry of Finance and the National Development and Reform Commission in notice 教研函〔2022〕1号. The generation date printed in the notice header is 2022-02-11.

Two of the four names appear in that list under the disciplines printed beside them. Jinan University appears as 暨南大学：药学 (pharmacy). Guangzhou Medical University appears as 广州医科大学：临床医学 (clinical medicine). Southern Medical University and Shantou University do not appear under those names in annex 1 of the notice.

The Double First-Class entries concern the disciplines printed in that list. They say nothing about the English-taught clinical medicine programme in the annex.
