Listed MBBS schools in Hubei, Henan and Anhui

Five schools in Hubei, Henan and Anhui appear in the Ministry of Education's list for English-taught undergraduate clinical medicine for the 2023–2024 academic year: three in Hubei, one in Henan and one in Anhui (this site's count of the annex rows). This page sets out those five rows, the place and administering body that the national list of 17 June 2026 gives each school, and whether each school has an entry in the second-round Double First-Class annex. The list is a notice of the General Office of the Ministry of Education, 教外厅函〔2023〕10号, dated 15 May 2023 and published on the Ministry's site on 30 May 2023. The English in this article is this site's translation of the Chinese text. The annex lists universities by their Chinese names. The English names in the table below are the ones this register uses; they do not appear in the annex.

The five rows

The table follows the annex numbers. The order is not a ranking, and the size of an enrolment plan is not a quality score.

Counts by province header

These counts are this site's arithmetic on the annex rows. Counted by this site, the Hubei rows are three, with plans added up to 140 (50, 70 and 20). The Henan row is one, with a plan of 20. The Anhui row is one, with a plan of 60.

What the Double First-Class column shows

The Double First-Class column records whether the second-round annex, issued with notice 教研函〔2022〕1号 of 9 February 2022, has an entry under the same Chinese name. That annex lists disciplines by school. For Wuhan University, Huazhong University of Science and Technology and Zhengzhou University, the entries are printed in that annex as they stand. This register does not read a Double First-Class entry as a statement about the English-taught clinical medicine programme in the annex. For Anhui Medical University and China Three Gorges University, the second-round annex has no entry under these names.

Dates and scope of the list

Paragraph 1 of the notice says the Ministry entrusted 44 universities with enrolling international students in this programme for 2023–2024, with 3048 places in total. The list covers the 2023–2024 academic year only. The Ministry's policy index listed no later edition of this annual notice when this site read it on 11 October 2026. Readers should confirm the current year's status with the university and with the Ministry.

Questions people ask

Does the list say how many places each school has?

Yes. The annex gives an enrolment plan for 2023–2024 for each row. In this table, the plans are 50 for Wuhan University, 70 for Huazhong University of Science and Technology, 60 for Anhui Medical University, 20 for China Three Gorges University and 20 for Zhengzhou University.

Does the list rank these universities?

No. Paragraph 1 of the notice says the plan allocation takes into account previous years' enrolment and how each university handles the daily teaching and management of international students in medical education. This register does not rank these schools, and the order of the annex is not a ranking.

Where do the place and administering body come from?

They come from the national list of higher education institutions as of 17 June 2026. For Wuhan University and Huazhong University of Science and Technology, the administering body is printed as the Ministry of Education. For China Three Gorges University, it is Hubei Province. For Zhengzhou University, it is Henan Province. For Anhui Medical University, it is Anhui Province.
