Listed MBBS schools in south-west China: Sichuan, Chongqing, Yunnan and Guangxi

The Ministry of Education's list for the 2023–2024 academic year names schools in four provinces and regions of south-west China that enrol international students in English-taught undergraduate clinical medicine. This site's count: three annex rows are printed under the Sichuan header, and one row each under the Chongqing, Yunnan and Guangxi headers of the national list.

The list and its dates

The list is the notice 教外厅函〔2023〕10号 of the General Office of the Ministry of Education. The English in this article is this site's translation of the Chinese text. The notice is signed 15 May 2023 and was published on the Ministry's site on 30 May 2023.

Paragraph 1 of the notice says that the Ministry entrusted 44 universities to enrol international students in English-taught undergraduate clinical medicine for 2023–2024, with 3,048 places in total. The same paragraph says that the schools and the allocation of places were set by taking into account earlier years' enrolment and how each school runs its day-to-day teaching and management of medical education for international students.

The annex has three columns: the number (序号), the school (学校) and the 2023–2024 enrolment plan (2023—2024学年招生计划数). The annex lists universities by their Chinese names. The English names in this article are the ones this register uses. The annex's order and the size of a plan are not a ranking.

This list covers the 2023–2024 academic year only. The Ministry's policy index listed no later edition of the annual list notice when this site read it on 11 October 2026. Confirm the current year's status with the university and with the Ministry of Education.

The national list of higher education institutions, as of 17 June 2026, prints each school under a province header. The table follows those headers. The grouping is not a ranking.

Double First-Class entries

The second-round Double First-Class notice is 教研函〔2022〕1号, issued by the Ministry of Education, the Ministry of Finance and the National Development and Reform Commission. Its page header prints 2022-02-11 as the 生成日期 (generation date). Annex 1 of the notice is the list of universities and disciplines.

Annex 1 has an entry under the name 四川大学 (Sichuan University). The disciplines printed in that entry are mathematics, chemistry, materials science and engineering, basic medicine, stomatology and nursing. Under the Chinese names of the other rows in the table, annex 1 has no entry.

A Double First-Class entry concerns the disciplines printed in it. The entry for 四川大学 names no undergraduate clinical medicine programme, and it does not refer to the English-taught MBBS list.

Three annex rows are printed under the Sichuan header. They are 四川大学 (Sichuan University), with a plan of 100; 川北医学院 (North Sichuan Medical College), with a plan of 40; and 西南医科大学 (Southwest Medical University), with a plan of 60. The annex's order and the plan sizes are not a ranking.

Does the list show fees or entry requirements?

The annex has three columns: the annex number, the school and the 2023–2024 enrolment plan. None of these columns is a fee or an entry requirement.

When this site read it on 11 October 2026, the Ministry's policy index listed the 2023–2024 notice under 2023-05-30, the date it was published on the site, and listed no later edition.
