Of the 44 schools on the Ministry of Education's 2023–2024 list for English-taught undergraduate clinical medicine, 19 have an entry under the same Chinese name in the second-round Double First-Class annex. Seven of those 19 print 临床医学 (Clinical Medicine) among their disciplines, and the other 25 schools have no entry. The Double First-Class annex concerns disciplines and says nothing about the English-taught MBBS programme, so an entry should not be read as a statement about that programme. The counts on this page are this site's counts, made by matching the two lists by Chinese name. For the full list, see this register's section page.

The two lists and how they were matched

The MBBS list is the notice of the General Office of the Ministry of Education, 教外厅函〔2023〕10号, dated 15 May 2023 and published on the Ministry's site on 30 May 2023. Paragraph 1 of the notice says that for 2023–2024 the Ministry entrusted 44 universities to enrol undergraduate clinical medicine students taught in English, with 3048 places in total. The annex to the notice lists the universities by their Chinese names. The English names in this article are the ones this register uses; the annex does not print them.

The second list is the second-round Double First-Class annex. It comes from the notice of the Ministry of Education, the Ministry of Finance and the National Development and Reform Commission, 教研函〔2022〕1号, dated 9 February 2022. Annex 1 of that notice is the list of universities and construction disciplines. Annex 2 lists first-round disciplines given a public warning, and this page does not use it.

This page covers the 2023–2024 academic year only. The Ministry's policy index listed the 2023–2024 notice under 2023-05-30, which is the date it was put on the site. When this site read the index on 11 October 2026, it showed no later edition of the list. Readers should confirm the status for the current year with the university and the Ministry.
